I do think it would be tres handy for things like bus schedules or movie schedules, etc... but this just opens up reams of security holes for identity theft and more CC fraud when used as a CC payment data transmitter.
Heck, even in the movie Ultraviolet she had to take her bracelet *off* and stick it into something to be scanned. (For those that didn't watch the movie, she had a big bracelet that looked like a fashion accessory but it actually held her credit card info.)
